FAQ

How are subscription links different from Shopify cart permalinks?

Shopify's built-in cart permalinks cannot apply selling plans — Shopify's own documentation says so. DropLink creates the cart through Shopify's Storefront API with the selling plan attached, so the buyer lands in checkout already set up as a subscriber. That works on every DropLink plan, including Free.

What does the buyer actually see?

They click your short link and land directly in your store's own Shopify checkout with the cart pre-filled. DropLink never handles payment, never shows its own pages to buyers (except a branded "link not found" for dead links), and never alters your checkout.

How does conversion tracking work?

Each link tags its checkout with a hidden cart attribute. When the order is paid, Shopify notifies DropLink and the order is attributed to the exact link that drove it — orders, revenue, and conversion rate per link. Conversion tracking is included from the Starter plan.

What counts as a click vs. a unique visitor?

Every redirect is a click. Unique visitors are estimated from a salted hash of the visitor's IP — the raw IP is never stored. After 90 days, raw click rows are rolled up into daily summaries, so totals are preserved forever while detailed data ages out.

How does A/B testing pick a variant?

Traffic splits by the weights you set. A visitor who returns within 30 days keeps the variant they were first assigned (via a cookie), so refreshing doesn't skew your results. Conversion and revenue are tracked per variant, and you can apply the winner's configuration to the link in one click.

What happens when I hit my plan's link limit?

Existing links keep working — you just can't activate new ones. Upgrade, or pause/archive links you're not using. Downgrading never deletes anything.

Can I cancel or change plans any time?

Yes. Billing runs through Shopify's own subscription system — changes happen on Shopify's secure pricing page and show up on your normal Shopify invoice. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial.

What data does DropLink store, and what about GDPR?

Per click: a salted hash of the IP (not reversible), user agent, referrer trimmed to origin+path, and country. Per conversion: the Shopify order ID and total. No buyer names, emails, or addresses — ever. When you uninstall, Shopify's mandatory data-erasure process deletes everything we hold for your store within 48 hours.

Can I use my own domain for short links?

Custom domains are coming to the Growth plan. Today all short links are served from go.zerglo.com.
